Wooden Staircases- Renovating the Staircases

The interior or wooden staircase is often the focal point of a room. Since it usually leads to the second floor of the house, it is under a lot of stress. Over time, it can become damaged and tarnished. There are many ways to fix a staircase. This is considered an interior remodel. If the construction of your staircase is only a few months old, there is no need for a complete renovation.  Wipe the wooden staircases with a dry cloth and then wipe it again with a damp microfiber cloth. If the stairs have carpeting, you should vacuum each step. If you have metal stairs, such as wrought iron, you will only need a commercial cleaner to clean and then wipe them down. To keep your staircase clean and avoid having to completely redo the interior, clean your staircase at least once a month.

After Cleaning Your Staircase

After cleaning your staircase, you may want to polish it, especially if it is a wooden staircase. Be sure to use a quality wood furniture polish to give the stairs a natural look. If you have a stained staircase and can find the right paint, you can only cover areas where the paint has peeled off or there are small scratches. If you decide to paint the stairs, keep leftover paint in the garage or basement to have on hand in case you need to touch it up. If you decide to repaint the stairs, you’ll need to sand, prime, and then paint them first. You can paint instead of staining.

Interior Renovation Process

Another way to freshen up your wooden staircase with an interior renovation is to replace the carpet. Floor carpets come in a variety of patterns and colors. You can buy one that will match the rest of the flooring and railing in the interior. Before you go shopping, you need to roughly calculate how much carpet you will need. Always buy a little more than you actually need to make sure you have enough and have a reserve in case you make a mistake. Once you take the rug home, you can cut it to the width and length you want.
